Isaac's Storm Erik Larson
The story of a hurricane, hubris, and the greatest natural disaster in US history. On Sept 8, 1900 Galveston was hit by a huge hurricane that demolished the town and killed ~6,000 people. This book is a history of the storm and the conversations that were had, decisions that were made, and the miscalculations that led to the huge loss of life. Hindsight is always 20/20 but the refusal to consider information that could have saved lives was not 20/20; it was information that existed at the time and was dismissed. I loved this book!
